The 24-year-old initially joined the Lions from Extraliga's HC Košice at the beginning of December on a one week contract, which was then extended until the Olympic break on February 2. In eight games for LHC, he has managed to put up two goals and one assist.

Gernát, a former Edmonton Oilers draft pick, played overseas from 2011 to 2016. In 2016, he returned to Europe to play for HC Sparta Praha. This season, the defender has played for HC Prešov, HC Košice, and is now suiting up for Lausanne HC.

On another note, still according to the same source, all players except Dario Trutmann (fractured pelvis) and Joël Vermin (knee) were present in this morning's on-ice practice. Eric Walsky, who is recovering from a concussion and has yet to make his season debut, took part in the practice session, albeit wearing a distinctive jersey.
