"Actually, there was interest from a National League team," Schmutz says. In consequence, his agent tested the market, but it became clear rather quickly that Schmutz wants to stay with EHC Biel. "They gave me clear signals that they would like to keep me." Because he feels comfortable in Biel, he decided to stay, even though it is not going to be easy next season: "Of course, the competition will be tougher, but we want to have a broader team and that's why this is a good thing."

Julian Schmutz has been a part of EHC Biel's organization since joining them from EHC Visp in 2016. Over the course of the past season, the young forward appeared in 62 games in red and yellow, in which he scored seven goals and added 13 assists for a total of 20 points.
