The 30-year-old defenseman and the Seelanders were not able to find common ground in their negotiations.

Maurer to leave the Selanders

Team manager Martin Steinegger did not want to get into the details with the Bieler Tagblatt but confirms that Maurer will not play for EHC Biel next season. He has signed a two-year contract with Genève-Servette HC, valid until the end of the 2020-21 season.

Steinegger is now looking for a defenseman to replace him. If he were not to find someone on the Swiss market, a second import defender would apparently also be an option for the 2019-20 season.

EHC Biel's team manager also tells the same source that they have given Mathieu Tschantré some more time to decide whether he wants to continue playing or retire.
