For the second time, after 2015, Heinz Ehlers was voted "Best Coach of the Regular Season" by coaches and captains of the twelve NL-teams.

Fired by Lausanne HC at the end of the 2015-16 season, the 53-year-old Dane took over the head coaching duties in the Emmental from Scott Beattie in October the same year and managed to lead the SCL Tigers into the playoffs for the second time in the club's history this season. The first time Langnau qualified for the National League playoffs dates back to 2011.

According to the Tages-Anzeiger, Der Bund, the Tribune de Genève and 24 heures, who have been conducting these yearly surveys among coaches and captains from Switzerland's top league since 2003, Ehlers received a total of eight votes, followed by HC Ambrì-Piotta's coach Luca Cereda with seven votes.

The names of the players elected "Most Valuable Player", "Best Goaltender", "Best Defender" and "Best Forward" as well as the lineups of the two All-Star teams (with and without foreigners) will be revealed in Thursday's edition of the said newspapers.
