Because the ZSC Lions missed the playoffs, the leadership of the club decided not to keep on working with Arno Del Curto. Also his assistant coaches Michael Liniger (contract with the GCK Lions) and Mathias Seger (private reasons) will no longer work for ZSC.
Now, the quest for a new coach begins. Sven Leuenberger acknowledges that the situation with many coaching changes is "not ideal, but we hope that the continuity will be there with the new coach." The profile of the new coach is clear: he has to be a hockey expert and "bring leadership and assertiveness", Leuenberger says.
Arno Del Curto joined the ZSC Lions in mid-January, where he replaced Serge Aubin. Only at the end of November he stepped down as head coach of HC Davos, which he had coached for the past 22 years.
As for Sven Leuenberger himself, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung reports that his contract with the Lions has been extended for another two seasons, until 2021.
