While the 22-year-old netminder still has a valid contract with HCD, Robert Mayer's signing seems to lead to a change for van Pottelberghe.

Van Pottelberghe soon in Biel?

According to Klaus Zaugg (Watson), EHC Biel is very interested in the young goaltender and is in "advanced talks" with him. The Seelanders are, of course, currently looking for a goaltender, as Jonas Hiller is set to retire at the end of the current season.

Pottelberghe, who was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings, has an NHL out clause in his contract and has never made a secret out of the fact that he wants to try his luck in the NHL one of these days. That - and the fact that neither he nor Gilles Senn were willing to commit to Davos long term - was the reason his former head coach Arno Del Curto decided to hire Anders Lindbäck last season.

While he did not play a single championship game for Davos last season, he suited up in 16 games for them this season, posting a .908 save percentage.
