In an interview with the Tages-Anzeiger, ZSC's team manager Sven Leuenberger talks about next season, the Coronavirus, and Garrett Roe.

Will the ZSC Lions have to replace Pius Suter?

"I'm in contact with their agents," Leuenberger says when asked if the ZSC Lions are interested in forward Denis Malgin (Toronto Maple Leafes) and defenseman Mirco Müller (New Jersey Devils), who both have expiring contracts in the NHL. "But if Blindenbacher, Berni, and Suter stay, we're actually complete."

Pius Suter and Tim Berni, however, are both flirting with the idea of moving to the NHL and Severin Blindenbacher is still suffering from a concussion. "There's no estimate if he will be able to return to the ice on August 1," Leuenberger explains to the same source.

In view of playing in the Champions Hockey League next season, also adding a fifth import-player is an option, Leuenberger says. But what if he had to save money after an estimated loss of CHF 1 million due to the Coronavirus? "If the Board of Directors and Mr Frey were to say that, I would, of course, have to implement it. But so far those responsible in Zurich have been very generous."

Sven Leuenberger is already looking further into the future than just to next season. Garrett Roe's contract is expiring in 2021 and after a convincing first season, the Lions would like to keep him in Zurich: "Of course, I've already talked to him," Leuenberger says. "But I dont' want to say more about that at the moment."
