The measures put in place to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus will impact SC Bern.

It is no secret that professional hockey in Bern is subsidized by the Sportgastro AG which consists of 16 catering businesses. On Monday, the Federal Council decided to order all restaurants and bars closed until April 19. Due to this measure, Marc Lüthi has decided to impose a hiring freeze, the Blick reports.

SC Bern's CEO Marc Lüthi has applied for short-time work for 50% for the employees in the office. The percentage is likely to be even higher for Sportgastro AG employees. "Sport is the most beautiful triviality in the world. But we're talking business here," Lüthi states. "We now have time to work out all our strategies and negotiate. We can sign contracts at a later time."

As for SC Bern's vacant import player spot and the vacant head coaching position, Alex Chatelain reveals that there are no candidates for those positions at the moment: "We have three foreigners under contract. Maybe someone will join them in July. Maybe not. Maybe we'll have to make cutbacks, can't implement everything we'd like to for financial reasons."
