The agreement between the Ottawa Senators and the Tigers, provides that the defender will return to Ottawa for the start of the NHL training camp on December 23. Until that day, Erik Brännström will help out the Tigers, especially in powerplay, as explained by team manager Marc Eichmann: "Brännström gives us the desired depth and creativity on the blue line". Moreover, Eichmann reveals that they only pay for food and lodging.
In addition to confirming the loan of the Swede, Langnau also announced the loan via B-license of defenseman Alain Bircher to SC Langenthal, for which he already suited up twice this season.
