In the last week, the call for state subsidies from several figureheads of the National League has become louder. Peter Jakob, president of the SCL Tigers, does think another way might prove to be more sellable to the general public, as he tells the SonntagsZeitung.

"I wonder to what extent state subsidies can be arranged. It would make more sense to make concessions with the short-time work regulation," the SCL Tigers' president states. "We need a simplified procedure, even if we were to play the end of the season. We would work, but we would not be able to sell our product as usual."

He is also critical about how the entire league went about its business in the last couple of years, stating that their performance was anything but good: "Year after year we moaned to the sponsors how everything is getting more expensive. But we were the ones who didn't have a grip on the situation."

The high salary standard in the league and too few sustainable investments are only some of the problems Jakob talks about in his interview with the SonntagsZeitung. There is thus only one logical consequence for him: "Reason is needed, we should send out a signal of modesty. Because what has been done in recent years has not been effective."
