Lars Leuenberger took over as head coach of EHC Biel for Antti Törmänen, as the latter had been diagnosed with cancer. Törmänen has recovered from the illness and it seems like he is now also ready to return to his coaching duties.
Leuenberger will thus leave EHC Biel's organization. The 46-year-old, who previously worked almost 15 years for SC Bern in various capacities, will thus have to look for another employer as of the 2021-22 season.
He was only informed today that he would no longer serve on the coaching staff of EHC Biel. As he tells Watson, he wants to stay in the coaching business. While he has not received an offer from a National League team, two parties are interested in him. However, "no further talks have taken place. I wanted to wait and see what Biel decides."
