Citing sources, Pierre Schouwey (La Liberté) reported this morning that HC Fribourg-Gottéron has signed Färjestad BK's Magnus Nygren for the upcoming season. Christian Dubé as well as the player himself deny it.

It is not the first time that Nygren has been in talks with a Swiss teams. He had several offers from Switzerland two years ago, but he then decided to sign a four-year contract (valid until the end of the 2018-19 season) with SHL team Färjestad BK, a team he had already played for for several years.

Nygren is in possession of an out-clause, but as he tells Värmlands Folkblad when asked about the rumor, he will "certainly not go to Fribourg".

The 26-year-old was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 2011, but only ever played for their AHL affiliate at the time, the Hamilton Bulldogs. The current captain of Färjestad has scored eleven goals and 19 assists in 47 games for the SHL team this season thus far.
