In mid-January, SC Bern's strategic sport developer Sven Leuenberger already told Klaus Zaugg (Watson) that the Bears were indeed anticipating Hischier's return. However, this will all depend on the decision of the NHL team that will select Hischier in the upcoming draft. In the 2015-16 season, the now 18-year-old forward already played 15 games for SCB's NLA team.

This past summer, however, Hischier left the capital city to join the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL. For them, he appeared in 63 games, scoring 41 goals and 52 assists. In addition, Hischier won the QMJHL's Rookie of the Year Award, the Michael Bossy Trophy (Best Professional Prospect), and the Michel Bergeron Trophy (Offensive Rookie of the Year).
