His original contract would have been valid until the end of the 2017-18 season and included an NHL out clause valid until July 15, 2017. His new deal, however, does not include an NHL out clause. The forward will thus definitely stay with the Bears.

The 28-year-old forward was the league's leading scorer this past year, both in the regular season and in the playoffs. In 66 games for the Bears, he recorded 33 goals and 42 assists.
