The 48-year-old Finn assisted Gerd Zenhäusern and Larry Huras behind HC Fribourg-Gottéron's bench in the past two years. At the end of this term, however, the club decided to part ways with both Martikainen and Huras.
When contacted and asked about it by La Regione, however, Martikainen neither wanted to confirm nor comment this news. "Maybe I'll talk later," before he added: "try to call Cereda."
