Frei joined the Lakers' Elite Juniors during the 2011-2012 season and made his NLA-debut the next term. The 23-year-old went on to play five years for Rapperswil-Jona, including relegation and promotion. This past season, he suited up for the Lakers 17 times, recording five goals and two assists, as well as in 26 games for EHC Dübendorf in the MySports League, recording eleven goals and six assists.
Now, the forward, who can play on both wings, remains in the Swiss League and joins HC Thurgau.
