Swiss League

In May, HC Thurgau signed Mauro Lorenz for the next two years. However, the defenseman has decided to hang up his skates and put an end to his professional career.

As the Lions write on their website, Lorenz has informed the club's management and administrative board of his decision and asked them to terminate his contract with immediate effect. This came as a surprise to the team, but management and board have decided to accept his request and dissolved the two-year-deal.

Lorenz, 21, played for Helsingborgs HC in Sweden's third tier hockey league, for the most part of last season, appearing in 28 games for them. He also suited up for the Idaho IceCats in the North-American Western States Hockey League six times.
