MacMurchy played in Switzerland between 2012 and 2014 when he wore the jerseys of HC Red Ice and EHC Biel. Four years later, he returns for a second stint in Switzerland, after spending four years in Germany's DEL with ERC Ingolstadt and the Adler Mannheim. The 35-year-old is Kloten's second import-player after Austrian netminder Bernhard Starkbaum.

For the past three seasons, MacMurchy suited up for the Adler Mannheim. Last season, the Canadian appeared in 23 games, in which he scored five goals and added eleven assists for a total of 16 points.
