The 34-year-old defenseman will hang up his skates at the end of April after more than 800 games in Switzerland.

It is time for a new adventure for Franco Collenberg.

The 2019-20 season, his second with HC Thurgau in the Swiss League, will be the last one for Franco Collenberg. Even though the native of Chur will not play anymore, he will remain in the hockey-business, working for the Ochsner Hockey Academy.

Over the course of his career, Collenberg suited up 666 times in the National League (110 points), mainly with EHC Basel and HC Fribourg-Gottéron but spending time also with SC Bern, HC Ambrì-Piotta, the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers, EHC Kloten, and HC Davos, with which he debuted in 2003. Moreover, in 2013, Collenberg won the Swiss championship with SC Bern.

In the Swiss League, Collenberg played a total of 204 games for EHC Chur, SC Langenthal, and HC Thurgau, recording 57 points.
