HC Sierre has signed head coach Mario Pouliot to a one-year contract extension, valid until the end of the 2024-25 season.

Alain Bonnet, president of HC Sierre, already told Le Nouvelliste two weeks ago that Pouliot was their number one candidate but that they had to discuss things properly. Pouliot has been with Sierre since January.

As for Éric Castonguay, the forward has decided to put an end to his career as a professional hockey player. He will, however, not leave the organization. Instead, he will work as an assistant coach for the first team and as a coach for Sierre's junior teams.

In his retirement letter, the 36-year-old forward thanks everyone in HC Sierre's organization: "Now, a page turns and a new chapter begins, but one thing remains: the pride and passion of working for your club." The Canadian has been playing in Switzerland for the past five seasons.

Throughout his career, he played in various leagues, such as the AHL, the ECHL, the Ligue Magnus, the HockeyAllsvenskan and the SHL. He even played a season in Norway. This season, he recorded eleven goals and 25 assists in 35 games for HC Sierre.
