"I didn't come here to play my final season," Steiner explains to the Thurgauer Zeitung. "I'm here because I'm still motivated." Although it sounds like the 36-year-old will definitely play the upcoming season with HC Thurgau, he has not signed a contract yet.

Signing the contract, however, seems to be a mere formality. "It's not about the money," Steiner says and already talks about his ambitions with the Lions: "Of course, it's not primarily about winning the championship here. But it's about finally winning a playoff series again."

Last season, the 36-year-old forward played for HC Fribourg-Gottéron. In a total of 29 games, he scored one goal and added five assists.
