Ticinonews reports that the HCB Ticino Rockets have presented a loss of CHF 67,000 for the 2016-17 season. Main reason: no enough spectators.

With a budget of CHF 1.5 million, the loss of CHF 67,000 is a good result; president Davide Mottis says: "We have mastered the financial challenges." For the most part, the loss can be explained by the reduced spectator numbers. In fact, the club took in CHF 100,000 less than anticipated in ticket revenue.

For the future, the clubs' main objectives are still to be economically independent and to help young players on their way into the National League. In this area Mottis could already show some success: "There were a lot of players from the Rockets in last week's derby.," he says.
