"We don't know yet, but I don't think that I will participate in the Carolina Hurricanes' training camp this year," Hofmann told HeShootsHeScores when asked about the schedule for the coming weeks. "I think I will stay here in Lugano, where I will continue my growth and where I will spend the whole season."

The Carolina Hurricanes' 2011 fourth-round draft pick (103rd overall), who has never been signed to an entry-level contract by the NHL team, already participated in last year's training camp but was then cut from the roster at the end of September.

The future of the 25-year-old forward has yet to determined. As he will be a free agent come spring, Hofmann has almost the entire National League interested in him, including EV Zug with an offer of about CHF 600,000.-, the Neue Zürcher Zeitung recently reported.

"I have nothing to say about that, it's just speculation by certain journalists," he told the same source in reaction to the latest media reports. "Certainly Lugano is a very intersting place, but I will make very calm decisions about my future. Now, I just want to focus on Lugano."

Hofmann also revealed that he has not set himself a deadline to clarify his future: "For the moment we are in discussions with Lugano and I don't give much importance to what is written in the media. I try to concentrate on doing well here and I have no time limit to make a decision."
