At the end of his contract with them, Philipp Kurashev recently received a qualifying offer (set at $787,500) from the Chicago Blackhawks. Despite that, the forward has elected to file for salary arbitration, as the players' union of the NHL announced today, alongside 21 other names.

The Blackhawks' GM, Kyle Davidson, is positive that a solution can be found before it actually goes that far, as he told NBC Sports Chicago even before it was announced Kurashev would do so. "I’m optimistic we’ll get something ironed out. The deadline is today for him to file for arbitration, so I fully expect him to file. That’s the responsible thing for them to do on their end, but I’m hoping to get a deal done in short order."
