Greg Ireland has a valid contract until the end of this term. However, speculations about the Bianconeri's coaching position for the upcoming season have already started. There are two names thrown into the ring by Teleticino: Bob Hartley's contract with the Latvian national team will expire this spring. The former head coach of the ZSC Lions might replace Greg Ireland. The second name mentioned is Serge Pelletier, who coached HC Ambrì-Piotta from the 2012-13 season to the 2015-16 season.

But not only the coaching position is being questioned, there are also rumours of new import players brought up by Teleticino. As a result of a new North American coach, Cory Conacher could join HC Lugano as of next season. On the other hand, Linus Klasen might have to leave the Bianconeri. The Swede has scored 150 points in 141 games in three seasons for HC Lugano.
