In today's league assembly, the National and Swiss League clubs have unanimously decided to nominate president ad-interim Michael Rindlisbacher for the office of SIHF president.

Rindlisbacher has accepted the nomination: "In recent weeks, the finding committee has come to the realization that the president of Swiss Ice Hockey also has to be directly involved in the strategic responsibility of competitive sports. Given this decision, I like to make myself available for this office."

There is also one vacant spot on the Board of Directors. Former NHL player Mark Streit is interested in occupying the position and will make a final decision until the end of March. He would take on the newly created division "International Relations" and would, in said function, serve as a delegate for the Board of Directors in the organising committee of the World Championship 2020.

Moreover, the clubs have also approved the examination of a possible Spengler Cup participation in 2018. Talks with tournament officials, HC Davos and the sponsors and partners of both sides will thus start soon. A final decision can be expected by the end of March.
