This is the decision taken today by the assembly of the National League and Swiss League clubs.

With this decision, the season is definitely over.

In addition to the decision of not crowning the ZSC Lions, which finished the regular season at the top of the standings, as champions of the 2019-20 season, the assembly also agreed on not accepting the requests of EHC Kloten and of EHC Visp, which also submitted a request for the promotion.

EHCK, the leaders of the Swiss League, wanted to be promoted in the National League, even though the championship has been terminated prematurely due to the spread of the Covid-19. This also means that no team will be relegated.

For the record, as Lions' CEO Peter Zahner revealed to MySports, in addition to the Lions themselves, one National League club and two Swiss League clubs had voted to give the title to the ZSC Lions.

It is not only in the National League that there is no Swiss champion: in the Swiss League and at the highest junior levels, the U20-Elit and U17-Elit, the season ends without a Swiss champion. In addition, there is no relegation (from the National League, Swiss League, U20-Elit and U17-Elit) and no promotion (from the Swiss League, MySports League, U20-Top and U17-Top). HC Valais-Chablais and EHC Basel applied for promotion to the Swiss League as the two finalists in the MySports League, however, their applications were rejected.

It was also determined that the five first-placed National League teams in the regular season, namely the ZSC Lions, EV Zug, HC Davos, Genève-Servette HC, and EHC Biel, are qualified for the next Champions Hockey League.
