With a vast majority of the votes, Stefan Schärer, 58, has been chosen by the representatives of the clubs as their favored candidate for the succession of Michael Rindlisbacher. Schärer will be presented to the next general assembly of the SIHF and is thus expected to become the new president of the SIHF in September.

As a former handball player, Schärer knows well the sporting world. Moreover, he acquired experience as an entrepreneur over the years and is regarded as a leader with strong diplomatic and communication skills, Klaus Zaugg writes.
