According to the club, El Assaoui had to be stretchered off the ice and was not able to return to game action. The exact nature and severity of the injury, however, has yet to be determined and disclosed.
El Assasoui returned to HC Thurgau from MySports League's HC Sion-Nendaz 4 Vallées in mid-December last year. In 18 games for the Lions ever since, he has managed to put up seven assists.
