Matt Gilroy has experienced a difficult season so far. At first, he was taken out of action by an upper-body injury, and lastly by persistent bronchitis. The last time he suited up was on December 8. In these 13 games, the 34-year-old scored one goal and put up three assists.
"We have to use him in measured doses for the time being, but are convinced that he can help us in the decisive phase," says Marian Bazany, the assistant coach of the SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers.
Moreover, the Lakers will have further options with the return of players on loan to Swiss League clubs. Fabian Brem is already back from EHC Visp, while Kay Schweri, Léonardo Fuhrer, Jan Vogel, and Michael Loosli, who will probably be signed up for next season, will follow as soon as HC Thurgau has finished his season. HC Thurgau will face HC Ajoie this evening for a place in the semifinals.
