The Swiss are now ranked second and thus will get five spots for the 2019-20 edition of the Champions Hockey League. As previously announced, the criteria for making it to the CHL have also slightly changed.

In the future, the qualification from the national leagues will be mostly based on the standings at the end of the regular season. The league champions will still be the first seeds, followed by the regular season winners, the runners-up, the third-placed team, the fourth-placed team and the fifth-placed team.

The CHL-champion from the previous season will still be automatically qualified, with no additional spot granted to the respective league.
