IIHF World Championship

Patrick Fischer has selected 20 players for the first week of preparation ahead of the World Championship in Copenhagen, Denmark. Also, two players have decided to retire from the national team.

Tobias Stephan (EV Zug) and Félicien Du Bois (HC Davos) will no longer suit up for the national team, as they want to focus more on their respective teams for the rest of their career. Andres Ambühl will also not take part in this World Championship in order to recover fully from the long season.

The Swiss team will play eight preparation game ahead of the start of the World Championship, including four games in Switzerland. The entire schedule of the preparation process can be found here. The first selection of the team includes three prospects and some players who might get a chance to suit up for the national team in May. Captain Raphael Diaz will join the team in the second week of preparation.

The Swiss roster looks as follows for now:

Goaltender (2): Gilles Senn (HC Davos), Joren Van Pottelberghe (HC Davos).

Defensemen (6): Lukas Frick (Lausanne HC), Tobias Geisser (EV Zug), Joël Genazzi (Lausanne HC), Romain Loeffel (Genève-Servette HC), Claude-Curdin Paschoud (HC Davos), Miro Zryd (SCL Tigers).

Forwards (12): Yannick-Lennart Albrecht (SCL Tigers), Enzo Corvi (HC Davos), Dominic Lammer (EV Zug), Lino Martschini (EV Zug), Damien Riat (Genève-Servette HC), Matthias Rossi (HC Fribourg-Gottéron), Sven Ryser (Lausanne HC), Dario Simion (HC Davos), Reto Suri (EV Zug), Jöel Vermin (Lausanne HC), Samuel Walser (HC Davos), Jeremy Wick (Genève-Servette HC).
