IIHF World Championship

The coronavirus led to a cancellation of the World Championships in Switzerland. The hope of the Swiss was to host the games next year.

Fasel reveals in an interview with Russian news agency Tass that while they are picking the brains of the organizing committees of the next five World Championships regarding a potential one-year postponement, it does not look good for Switzerland: "There are problems with insurance. At the moment, everything looks like that next year’s World Championship will be held in Belarus and Latvia, the final decision will be made at the end of April."

As for the IIHF Congress meeting which was supposed to take place during the World Championship, they do not know when exactly they will be able to meet. According to Fasel, they will also decide on that at the end of April, but it will likely take place at the end of May or in June.
