The San Jose Sharks will not be one of the teams that will get a playoff spot this season. Thus, Timo Meier, who has recorded ten goals and 19 assists in 51 games for the Sharks, is free to join the national team for the World Championship, Curtis Pashelka (Mercury News) reports.

Nico Hischier, too, will join the Swiss team for the Worlds, as Timo Meier revealed in his press availability. According to Corey Masisak (The Athletic), the forward is eager to play after a season, which saw him out of the lineup for quite some time.
