Swiss international Sara Benz has decided to put an end to her professional hockey career at the age of 25, the ZSC Lions Women's team announced on Facebook today.

Benz, who is a product of EHC Winterthur, joined the ZSC Lions Women's team in the 2010-11 season and appeared in a total of 92 SWHL A games for them, scoring 121 goals and 82 assists for 203 points. With the Lionesses, she won multiple Swiss Championships and the Swiss Hockey Cup.

After an injury-caused absence of two and a half years, Benz returned to the ice in autumn 2017 and fought her way back into the 2018 Olympic squad. Overall, the forward took part in three Olympic tournaments and four World Championships with the Swiss national team, putting up ten goals and ten assists in 36 games.
