One shootout loss against Sweden and one overtime loss in the placement game against Finland: luck was not on the Swiss’ side in Füssen. In a repeat of the bronce medal game of Sotchi 2014, the Swiss, after having trailed the game, managed to tie it twice against the Swedes but had to accept a shootout-loss in the end. The game against Finland followed almost the same pattern: twice they trailed the game, twice they tied it but in the end the Finns managed to secure the win in overtime.

Nevertheless, for head coach Daniela Diaz, the Nations Cup has served its purpose: "We showed three good games. The tournament was a good end to the preparation for the Olympic Games, and also important for the upcoming selection process". The team would be ready for the challenge in Pyeongchang, she added.
