"After 25 years of playing hockey, it is now time for me to retire from this incredible sport and move on to a new chapter in my life," Schelling writes on her blog, announcing the end of her hockey career. With that, one of the greatest players in Swiss women's hockey leaves the ice for good.

Schelling is a four-time Olympian, who has led the Swiss women's national team to a bronze medal in Sochi 2014. She was also elected as the best goaltender and most valuable player of the tournament. In 2015 she left EHC Bülach, where she played for the men's team, and joined Linköping HC in the Swedish women's league, where she played for the past three seasons.
