The unified team from North and South Korea improved at all levels compared to their first encounter with Switzerland in the preliminary round, where they had to accept a 0-8 loss. With their quarterfinal loss to Russia still on their minds, the Swiss team, on the other hand, struggled getting into the game at the beginning.

Nevertheless, the Swiss were once again clearly the better team, even though Korea's goalie Shin So Jung showed a great performance and kept her team in the game for a long time. Moreover, the Koreans were defensively more stable and efficient this time. The Swiss girls fired almost the same amounts of shots on goal as like in the first game (51 vs. 52), but the accuracy and efficiency were badly missed.

Sabrina Zollinger (power play) and Evelina Raselli scored the only two goals in an entertaining game. For both players it was their very first goal in this Olympic tournament. In addition, Janine Alder got the start in net and crowned her Olympic debut with a shutout. Thanks to their 2-0 victory, the Swiss women's team will now play Japan in the game for the fifth place on Tuesday next week.
