According to the Corriere del Ticino, the Bianconeri have found a replacement for Elvis Merzlikins in Lausanne's Sandro Zurkirchen.

HC Lugano and the 28-year-old have agreed on a deal, which will be officialized as soon as Lausanne HC's season has come to an end, the same source reports. Whereas the Bianconeri have already been eliminated from the playoffs (4-0 quarterfinal series loss against EV Zug), Lausanne is still busy fighting for the Championship title.

Zurkirchen would thus leave LHC despite an ongoing contract until 2020. However, since Tobias Stephan will arrive from Zug next season and Luca Boltshauser's contract is valid for one more season, too, the club from the shores of Lac Léman was forced to find a solution for at least one of their current goalie duo.

With a save percentage of 92.7% and a goal against average of 2.27 in 36 games, Zurkirchen finished the National League's 2018-19 regular season ranking in fourth place. Since the start of the playoffs, he has appeared in four games for LHC, posting a save percentage of 92.52%.
