Rumors about Jalonen leaving in direction of the KHL or SC Bern relieving him of his duties a season prior to the end of his contract because the style of hockey he lets the team play is not exciting enough have been around for a while.

"He has a contract. I assume that he will fulfill it, " Marc Lüthi tells the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. "But of course: When there are certain sums in the room, everyone starts to ponder. We don't have to fool ourselves: If someone wants to leave, then he will leave."

Asked about Jalonen's "boring hockey" and the threat it might present to SC Bern's business model, Marc Lüthi has a pretty simple answer: "It would have been a problem if we lost again and again over a longer period of time. We are spoiled. Success has become commonplace in Bern. It is expected of us."

He is also not too worried about the decrease in attendance this season: "We don't only have fans in the stadium. There are also people who come because of the event. [...] We have certain audience fluctuations, but they're not in an alarming range."
