Swiss League

The National League Licensing Commission has informed the Swiss League club that they do not currently fully meet the required criteria.

One of the two Swiss League clubs that applied for promotion - the other being EHC Olten - HC La Chaux-de-Fonds has been denied the possibility to get promoted to the National League. As Arcinfo already reported in November, HCC's case was harder compared to the past given that the National League has recently tightened the requirements for a promotion.

The increase in share capital approved at the annual general assembly last June, which would have increased equity, could not be carried out in 2023 due to the delay in approving the construction loan for the new ice rink. New infrastructure is therefore vital if HC La Chaux-de-Fonds is to meet the promotion criteria.

Despite this year's negative application, the board of directors of HCC is optimistic about the future and confident in the political authorities: "We are well aware that promotion can only make economic sense if new infrastructure is guaranteed. The demands of the National League are such that we need certainty if we are to try to join it, and then stay in it for the long term".
