Axel Simic was released by his QMJHL team, the Armada de Blainville-Boisbriand, last night. He has now been put on waivers.

The 17-year-old forward had been drafted 18th overall by the Armada in the 2016 CHL Import Draft. The former HC Fribourg-Gottéron and Lausanne HC prospect will now have to wait if another QMJHL team will claim him off waivers. Should this not happen, a return to Switzerland seems likely.

Simic has played in 31 games for the QMJHL team this season, scoring three goals and 13 assists. The forward joined the Armada this summer, coming off a great season with LHC's Elite A team (27 points in 39 games as a rookie).
