The 22-year-old left winger, who is currently the team's second best scorer behind Luca Homberger (26 points), was forced to throw in the towel after a hit from the Rockets' Mauro Juri late in the second period. He had to be brought off the ice on a stretcher and was not able to continue playing. According to the club, however, Wieser is neither suffering from a concussion nor has he injured any of his vertebrae.

In addition, as Der Landbote reports, EHC Winterthur not only lost Wieser to injury tonight but also defenseman Reto Kobach. The 37-year-old veteran, who joined the club from Olten last summer, has recorded ten points (three goals, seven assists) in 38 games since season start.
