Not only captain John Gobbi but also Lausanne HC's netminder Cristobal Huet and forward Florian Conz (photo) will hang up their skates at the end of this season.

While Cristobal Huet, 42, already revealed in an interview with Le Parisien in May last year that "there is a 99% chance that I'm going to retire in 2018", Florian Conz's decision to end his career is rather surprising, even though he had a difficult start into the 2017-18 season.

Under the lead of ex-coach Dan Ratushny, Conz did not figure in the club's roster plans for the current season at all. He was even asked to look for a new employer despite a running contract until 2018. With the dismissal of Ratushny in mid-October, however, things changed and Conz was re-integrated into the first team.

The 33-year-old center and brother of Ambrì's goalie Benjamin Conz has been part of Lausanne HC for the past six seasons. From 2011 to 2014 he led the team as captain and helped them get promoted to the National League in 2013. This season so far, he has managed to put up two goals and four assists in a total of 36 games.
